AFEC Expands Clubfoot Treatment in Madhya Pradesh

The Anushkaa Foundation for Eliminating Clubfoot (AFEC) is proud to announce a significant milestone in its journey to transform lives. Through a strategic partnership with the SBI Foundation and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, the foundation has successfully expanded its clubfoot treatment program to 25 additional districts in Madhya Pradesh. This initiative reaffirms the SBI Foundation's dedication to driving meaningful social impact and making quality healthcare accessible to underserved communities.

Key Milestones

Expansion into New Districts: With the support of the SBI Foundation, AFEC has extended its reach to 25 new districts in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring that children and families in these regions have access to critical clubfoot treatment.

6 Years of Impact: Since its inception, AFEC has transformed the lives of over 15,000 children. Operating across 11 states and 150 districts, the foundation has consistently demonstrated its commitment to eliminating clubfoot through early intervention and quality care.

Launch Event

On August 8th, this landmark initiative was officially inaugurated at the National Health Mission Building in Bhopal. The launch event brought together key leaders and stakeholders dedicated to enhancing child healthcare in India, including:

•             Rajesh Bhushan, Ex-Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

•             Mohammad Suleman, Commissioner of Agriculture Production, Madhya Pradesh

•             Priyanka Das, Mission Director, National Health Mission

•             Dr. Himani Yadav, Deputy Director, RBSK

•             Sanjay Prakash, Managing Director, SBI Foundation

•             Deepak Premnarayen, Chairman, Anushkaa Foundation

Attendees also included healthcare professionals, government representatives, and beneficiaries who shared their inspiring stories.

Program Highlights

Establishment of New Clinics: New clubfoot clinics have been set up in government hospitals across the newly added districts, fully funded and supported by the SBI Foundation. These clinics aim to provide early and effective intervention.

Child Identification: In collaboration with Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) teams and ASHA activists, the program focuses on the early identification of children with clubfoot, enabling timely treatment.

Specialized Training Programs: Medical professionals will receive comprehensive training in the Ponseti method, a globally recognized non-surgical treatment for clubfoot.

Comprehensive Care: The initiative includes free diagnosis, casting, bracing, follow-up care, and counseling for children and their caregivers, ensuring a holistic approach to treatment.

Role of SBI Foundation and Government Support

The success of this expansion is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the SBI Foundation. While the state government provides critical infrastructure and resources, the SBI Foundation offers the financial and strategic backing necessary to drive the initiative forward.
